Natalie Halloway is a contemporary poet and author based in the Mojave Desert. Her debut collection, All in on Empty (Kismet Chaos Publishing, 2026), was shaped by her move more than 1,300 miles from home and written from within the upheaval rather than safely beyond it. Through emotionally raw, confessional poetry, she explores grief, anxiety, casino life, fractured relationships, reinvention, and the brutal quiet of beginning again.

Natalie Halloway is a contemporary poet and author based in the Mojave Desert, somewhere between the mountains of Utah and the city lights of Las Vegas. Originally from Missouri, she relocated more than 1,300 miles west, an experience that profoundly reshaped both her life and her writing.

Writing has been part of Natalie’s life since childhood. She completed her first book at fifteen, but for many years kept much of her work private, uncertain whether she was ready to allow others into the intimate worlds she created. After more than two decades of writing, she finally chose to share her work publicly in the hope that readers might recognize something of themselves within it.

Her debut poetry collection, All in on Empty (Kismet Chaos Publishing, 2026), was written amid casino lights, desert highways, storage units, fractured relationships, unfamiliar silence, and the difficult work of beginning again. Rather than reflecting safely from the other side of hardship, many of its poems were written from within the storm, documenting grief, anxiety, displacement, emotional survival, complicated relationships, and the uncertain process of reinvention.

Natalie’s poetry is rooted in emotional honesty, vivid imagery, and close attention to the ordinary moments that quietly carry enormous weight. Her work explores the distance between surviving and truly living, and the strange ways people learn to build a home after everything familiar has changed.

Her writing may resonate with readers drawn to the accessibility and emotional candor of Amanda Lovelace and Andrea Gibson, as well as the confessional traditions associated with Anne Sexton and Sylvia Plath.
